Description
Omas 1997 Limited Edition "Return to the motherland". After waving the British Union Jack over Hong Kong for 150 years, this influential area returned to its motherland, China, on July 1, 1997. Authorized by the Association for Celebration of Reunification of Hong Kong with China, Omas creates a beautiful commemorative collection with a prestigious and emblematic design. This premier writing instrument showcases distinctive aspects of both Hong Kong and China in solid 18k gold. The cap features treasured symbols of both Hong Kong and China, with the Bauhinia flower surrounded by the words "Return to the Motherland", enameled in the original red colour of the Association's official logo. The clip is embellished in the same shade with a thin linear element reminiscent of simple calligraphy. The band around the cap is a synthesis of the Great Wall of China, the OMAS logo emerging from one of the Wall's gates, and the four ideograms written in Chinese 'Back to the Motherland'. The pen holder follows this theme of combining Hong Kong and Chinese motifs. Two Chinese dragons, mother and child, are sculpted into the metal casing of the barrel, referencing the relationship between Hong Kong and China and supporting the emblem of their unity, the pink Chinese dolphin.
